Laureen McLaren Geib, Director

Laureen’s Highland Dancing career began at the young age of 10 in Lethbridge, Alberta. Throughout her dancing career, Laureen represented Alberta 6 times at the Canadian National Championships and was 2nd runner up in the Adult Class in her last appearance. Prior to obtaining her fellows with the SDTA, Laureen won numerous championships notably the British Oversees Championship (Scotland) and placed in the top 6 at Cowal on 2 different occasions. She culminated her training by receiving her Judging Certificate from the SOBHD

Professionally, Laureen is a two-time graduate from the University of Calgary having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts & Bachelor of Education degrees. In addition, she holds a Graduate Diploma in Kodaly Music Education also from the U of Calgary. Laureen was a Fine Arts Specialist with the Calgary Catholic School Board and is a past member of the Board of Directors for Scotdance Canada.

Laureen is the director of the “Calgary School of Highland Dance” teaching dancers from the Beginner to Premier level. Her dance school is home of Michelle Nadeau, former 3 time Adult Canadian Champion and 2 time World 1st runner up, and Melisa Carnegie, 3 time Canadian Champion and World 1st runner up.
